Street scene in Venice, a canal

This was my second visit to Venice, the first one was in 1957, on the way to a Locca di Ledro, a refugee camp in the Alps. I left Hungary after the Russians crushed the 1956 revolution. Venice changed very much in that 35 years. It became mechanized and lost many of its charm. Venice is sinking. You can see on the picture that doorways are in water, even so that time of the photograph was taken at a low tide!!

Velencei utca, - kanális

Ez volt a második utam Velencébe. Az elsö mint menekült utban az alpokba Locca di Ledroi menekült táborba, az 1956-os forradalom leverése után. Velence sokat vealtozott 35 év alatt. A gondolák nagy részét leváltották motor csonakok. Mikor elösször ott voltam 57-ben láttam temtési menetet gondolán. Velence sülyed. A képen látható kapualj vizben van, pedig ekkor apály volt.
