Historic Photos of UpTown
The goosneck ambulance in the centre of this cca. 1892 photo was the first in the city. It is shown in front of blacksmith and carriage builder shops one half block north of Broadway, on the west side of Kingsway. William Owen, in the white shirt,was Vancouver’s major in 1924. The broadwalk in front can bwe seen to cross Brewery Creek. The building in the background with the spire was the original triangular building on the corner of main and Kingsway.
